Freebie - Bilingual Days of the Week Cards

Something that I've always wanted to do in my classroom is incorporate both English and French visuals (I'm from Canada, where our official languages are English and French). Growing up, I took French classes, but I've never really developed a thorough understanding of French. I've always thought it would be so useful to be bilingual. For that reason, I really want to try using both languages in the classroom. I made some cards to show the days of the week in both English and French (pictured below).

French Days of the Week Cards

I figured this would be a fun way to get kids to identify the days of the week in French, and also become comfortable saying "Today is..." in both languages. I also plan to make other French visuals (labels, weather charts, months of the year, etc) to explore this concept further.

Do you use a second language in the classroom? How do you find it works for you?

Welcome!

Welcome to A Minimalist Teacher!

This is a blog where I will write about my experience as an elementary educator. I have experience teaching many grades throughout Kindergarten to Grade 7. I am currently working as a substitute teacher, which has given me SO many great experiences working with kids of all ages.

I plan to use this blog as a platform to share what I notice is working for me, and what isn't. I also plan to share some of my favourite tried and true resources along the way.

Thank you for reading! Please comment if you have any questions!
